Skincare Routine : LAYERING YOUR PRODUCTS

Skincare Routine : LAYERING YOUR PRODUCTS

If you are like me , you had no clue on the proper order of application . Like shit does Vitamin C go before or after Moisturizer ? What should I apply in the AM and why ? The list goes on and on . Well babes for starters I am going to give you guys a Basic  Order of Application / Routine .

REMEMBER IT ! Write it down, screen shot it - IDGAF

STEP 1

For the Love of Sweet BABY Jesus always cleanse your skin - remove that makeup . In order for skincare ingredients to properly absorb, you need clean skin.

FFS : We have 3 cleansing formulas

1. Cleansing Oil

2. Take The Day Off - our gentle cleanser

3. Exfoliate and Glo - Our Glycolic + Micropolishing cleanser

STEP 2

TONER -purpose is to prime skin for other ingredients

No I am not referring to witch hazel or that skin wretching sea breeze , these are too irritating for everyday use .

Try opting for a toner like our  Skin Hydro its packed full of gentle botanicals and hydrating ingredients like Irish Moss Extracts that love and nourish the skin.  Lets talk essences real quick as far as consistency its the same , so if you use essence replace toner in your order.

STEP 3 SERUMS

If you are like me - You are wondering why tf I need a serum ,but wait first what is a serum. Serums are Highly concentrated Nutrients that are easily absorbed by skin. Serums are the Michael Jordans of the routine . They improve the overall condition of your skin by 10 fold.

We love our "NO ID'" Youth Serum . Vitamin C packed in a bath of Antioxidant Rich CBD OIL .

Brightens , heals and slows aging

STEP 4 EYE CREAM

Step 4: Eye creams

Eye creams are lighter than moisturizers and protect the delicate eye area . This area is very fragile . Apply these prior to all of the other ingredients
Rule of Thumb - lightest to heaviest
STEP 5 : SPOT TREATMENTS
Apply spot treatments in the am if you use retinol at night - if you do not use retinol at night - apply at night as this is when your body does its heaviest repair.
You want to avoid  layering irratants( acne treatments, retinol, harsh toners 0

Regardless of when you apply them, make sure to tap them on before your moisturizer so they can really penetrate your skin and do their thang without having another barrier to penetrate.

Step 6 : Moisturizer

MOISTURIZE ! MOISTURIZE ! MOISTURIZE ! Always ON PERIODT ! Always. No matter what. I don’t care if your skin is hella oily or easily broken out or sad or scared (there’s a formula for you! Promise!) because it’s the only thing that’ll keep your skin barrier—aka the very temperamental thing responsible for making your face look good—healthy. Plus, “a moisturizer not only infuses your skin with hydration but also helps trap in all the products underneath it to make the ingredients even more effective,”

Step 7 : Retinols

“Retinoids—the general term for vitamin A derivatives, like retinol and adapalene—sink into your skin to speed up cell turnover, causing your body to churn out fresher, smoother, less wrinkled skin over time,” says Dr. Gohara, noting that you’ll see results within four to six months of consistent use (sorry, but good things take time).

Step 8 : Oils

“Face oils seal in all the ingredients and moisture you just applied to your face . On their own oils do not moisturize  but when you apply them last , they help your routine’s efficacy while also leaving skin soft and smooth. Just make sure to always, always, apply them last.

Step 9  : Sunscreen

I am not even gonna go into a debate - USE IT EVERYDAY , CHECK BACK NEXT WEEK WE WILL HAVE A WHOLE BLOG ABOUT SUNCREEN
